1920 - 1930 A group of entrepreneurs from Antioquia established the Compañía Nacional de Chocolates Cruz Roja in Medellín to unite small local producers, which later became Compañía Nacional de Chocolates S.A. In the following years, we have continued to strengthen, improve manufacturing processes and renovate our factories in Cali, Bogotá and Medellín, as well as establishing a new one in Bucaramanga.
1930 - 1940 In 1933, the National Chocolate Company acquired a stake in the Noel Biscuit Factory. After acquiring Chocolates Chaves, Equitativa, Santa Fe and Tequendama, we began to establish ourselves in the market and eventually established the Corona, Diana and Tesalia brands.
1940 - 1950 Pablo Emilio Echeverri joined the company as the first Colombian technician to work for the company. The industrial team was significantly renewed and the philosophy of product development in line with the preferences of the Colombian consumer was maintained.
1950 - 1960 Chocolate becomes the preferred drink in both urban and rural areas.
1960 - 1970During this decade, the Company began an active program to promote cocoa cultivation and increase the diversity of its production. The famous Jet chocolate bar was created in 1961, becoming the first chocolate candy to be industrially produced in the country. Together, we created the first album with its collections of stickers. The Natural History album was published in 1968 and became a valuable educational text for many generations.
1970 - 198050 years of history for our company. The cocoa cultivation promotion programme has significantly increased the supply of the product nationwide. The first chocolate powder to be mixed with milk was the Jumbo and Chocolisto chocolate bars, which we launched on the market.
1980 1990In the 1980s, the Company began a constant process of modernization and opening up to foreign markets in response to the new directions of the economy. Our new products, Wafer Jet, Combi Jet, Triki Jet, Coco Jet and Deli Jet, are the first domestic sweets with chocolate cores. Chocolyne, the first sugar-free diet chocolate, was also born during this decade, and we experienced a significant renewal with Diana and Tesalia chocolates flavored with cloves and cinnamon.
1990 - 2000 Our products have expanded to global markets thanks to important agreements with foreign companies. In 1995, we achieved the distinction of the Order of Boyacá in the Silver Cross degree.
2000 - 2010To establish Novaventa SA, we partnered with the Noel Cookie Company.
2013 - 2017We obtained the certification of Family-Responsible Company, which accredits us as an organization that seeks balance between the personal, family and work life of employees. In addition, we became the first company to receive the certification as a Healthy Organization by the Colombian Heart Foundation.
In 2017, the largest solar roof in Antioquia and the second largest in the country was installed at our Rionegro Factory. The chocolates, nuts and cereal bars produced at our Rionegro Factory now incorporate an additional substance: solar energy. In this way, our plant has become a leader in Colombia in clean and environmentally friendly production.
2020We are celebrating our first decade! A historic achievement that motivates us to continue contributing to the creation of a better world in which progress is beneficial for everyone.
At Grupo Nutresa, for the second time, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index recognized us as the most sustainable company in the world in the food sector.
